Fi Wi Laif / Our Stories

Lesley Evans, Treasurer of NWJS, took up the challenge to do research in Bangor University Archives for the ‘Fi Wi Laif’ / Our Lives’ project.

This project is being undertaken by the Pennants Heritage Research Group PHRG. Lesley has managed to find the names of well over 1700 enslaved women and men, as well as the children’s names from the ‘slave registers’. Lesley will be sharing some of the information she has found in the BU Archives, from the enormous number of Penrhyn Papers. She will also share her initial findings from the National Archives in Spanish Town.

The PHDG are considering ways to memorialise these men, women, boys and girls.
