Uncertainty about the lease of Tesco Express shopping site
Posts on our readers letters page, and a shop owner, reflect the concern over the lease of the Waunceirch shopping site, including the car park.
The site is what is known as White's Folly, named after a planning officer who allowed the development to take place. A website with the heading of NEATH EYE SORE gives the details. Behind the scenes it is alleged that Tesco have not paid the management charge of £350+ per quarter for the last two years - and is therefore blamed for the state of the car park and its lighting.
It would now appear that Waterstones (the freehold developers) are trying to off-load it. Our councillors should look into this matter in the interests of residents and the shop owners.
