This is not good enough!
No candidate should take a seat in the House of Commons with less that 50% of the votes cast - see OUR VOTING SYSTEM (Menu).
Peter Hain had 17,192 votes, that is, 46.3% of the votes cast.
Others, those who opposed him had 19,960 votes, that is, 53.7% of the votes cast.
In other words, more voted against Peter Hain than for him. This cannot be considered fair. Clearly the voting system should be changed. Electors deserve a better system.
Any fair minded MP is sure to agree with this
