Pandemic Update

To all our members and website visitors

It has been a very strange and anxious year for us all.

In light of continuing uncertainty over the progression of the pandemic, the Society has reluctantly had to reconsider how it will operate in the foreseeable future.  This is only the second time in approaching one hundred years that it has been in this position (the first being during the years of the Second World War).

We had hoped to offer the full lecture programme of lectures starting in January & continuing through to August. Sadly this is obviously not going to be possible in the current circumstances.

The lectures for January to April have now been cancelled. We hope to resume with the AGM in the first week of May and a lecture on the third Monday of that month, but nothing is certain at this stage.

Those of you who have paid their subscription from April 2020 will have their period of membership extended by a year to 31st March 2022.  Those who have not yet paid should do so as soon as possible to comply and avoid any break in membership.  The addresses of both the Treasurer and the Secretary are on the back of last year's programme card. You may send subscriptions to either.

Even though the 'normal' activities of the Society are suspended, certain members of the committee will continue to work behind the scenes to maintain the Archive, the Website and answer any enquiries that come in. It is to be hoped that life will soon return to normal so that plans to celebrate our centenary can be put in hand.

Meanwhile, in addition to the monthly update of articles etc. the website will include any further information on the status of the Society, so please visit it regularly.
