About Comas

Comas : a gaelic word meaning 'ability'

Comas is a voluntary organisation dedicated to providing development support, training and consultancy in an accessible way to people and organisations working for social change, in Scotland and throughout the world. We work in an ethical way to maximise affordability and added value to your efforts.

What we're about

Comas develops ideas, leadership and capability, to strengthen action to tackle poverty and achieve social and environmental justice.

We form an alliance with people and organisations to develop their knowledge, hope and courage, and expand their ideas of what is possible. We help them be the change they want to see in the world.

In our experience, committed individuals, small groups and civic organisations have the potential to transform lives. We create space for thinking, analysis and designing solutions for successful community development.

Ruth Campbell

Ruth is the director of Comas and has over 25 years of experience of working in communities in the voluntary and public sectors. She has qualifications in community development, management and coaching.

Ian Leaver

Ian is a senior associate of Comas and brings experience of developing and managing community assets in rural areas, notably as Development Officer for Rum and previously Eigg.
