PAULOWNIA TORMENTOSA

https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/21410/paulownia-tomentosa-foxglove-tree-princess-tree/details

The foxglove or empress tree, Paulownia tomentosa, is a deciduous, fast-growing tree native to China. It's primarily grown for its giant leaves and panicles of foxglove-shaped blooms.

If left unpruned, the foxglove tree will quickly grow to form an attractive tree. However, the biggest leaves result from pruning it to the ground each year, in late winter. The result is strong, vigorous growth with huge leaves. As it flowers on wood grown the previous year, plants pruned each year won't produce flowers.

For best results, grow Paulownia tomentosa in full sun or dappled shade in a sheltered spot in moist, well-drained soil, though it'll grow well in most soils.

Callistemon Salignus (yellow bottle brush plant)

Position: Full Sun Soil: Moist, well drained Flowering Period: May – July

Hardiness: H2

Callistemon Salignus, also known as ‘White Bottle Bush’, is an upright spreading, evergreen, large shrub or small tree with distinctive papery white bark. Narrow willow like leaves pink-red when young, maturing to dark green, lemon scented when crushed. From May right through to late Summer an abundance of bottlebrush-like white tinged yellow flower spikes are produced, quite a show stopper for any garden. This large shrub or small tree is ideal for growing at the back of the shrub border or against a sunny wall.

Looking After Your Callistemon Salignus

Generally pest and disease free, an easy to grow large ornamental garden shrub, or small tree in many if not all locations. A low maintenance plant which will benefit from a sunny position in all types of garden. Callistemon Salignus will tolerate most soil conditions and is drought tolerant, preferring a fertile, humus rich, moist, well drained area in a sheltered position away from any cold, drying Winter winds. After flowering remove any damaged or unwanted branches to maintain height and shape. Early Spring feed with a multi-purpose fertiliser to encourage fresh new growth.

weigela Florida alexandra

Weigelas are easy-to-grow, undemanding plants that soon develop into fine leafy shrubs with showy early summer flowers and, in some cases, attractive variegated foliage. Their funnel-shaped flowers are well loved by bumblebees. All varieties have been bred from the most popular species, Weigela florida, a Far Eastern native introduced in 1848 and used many times since to create new hybrids.

Weigela florida ‘Alexandra’ is an unmissable variety with striking bronze-purple leaves and prolific hot-pink blooms. Perfect for a warm sunny site, it works well with a variety of herbaceous perennials and other shrubs. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it the prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
