No. 21 LEONARD LEIGH
Install a commercial electronic organ in an airplane: have organists on board and play requests for the passengers! Surely not. This fascinating video proves that United States NW Airlines did in fact do just that in one of their Stratocruisers. One of the team of organists was Leonard Leigh who played the organ over the airwaves of KSTP Radio Station, Minneapolis, St Paul. The organ was installed and heard via un-conventional means, and both stories are here for you to enjoy.
No. 22 BUDDY COLE
Enthusiasts built theatre organs … and then there was Buddy Cole! The world of music lost one of its finest all round musicians when Buddy passed away. He did however leave behind a handful of recordings of his famous Wurli-Morton organ which nobody thought to try and preserve. His music however, lives on.
Note. The viewing numbers for this video do not include the first up-load. It was reload with credits for certain photographs.
No. 23 KLAUS WUNDERLICH
At long last! KLAUS WUNDERLICH. It is impossible to do full justice to this amazing organist inside of 15mins, but I hope you will learn a few facts that you might not otherwise know about the German superstar…and at the same time hear some of his music that is quite rare, and often overlooked.
NOTE Please see Menu for Klaus Discography
No.24 MARIA KUMAGAI
Who was MARIA KUMAGAI, and where is she now? A brief but musically enchanting story about a lady who travelled to the USA from her native home of Japan, specifically to learn to play the theatre organ, but who, after making such an amazing impact on the concert circuit, has disappeared. Do you know where she is?
No.25 ANN LEAF
Size isn't everything! Ann Leaf might have been small in size, but her contribution to the organ world was large. Spend some time in the company of the Mighty Mite of the WurliTzer organ.
No.26 LOWELL AYARS
As someone who had the privilege of knowing LOWELL AYARS, a true gentleman of the organ world, I felt the series would not be complete unless it contained some examples of his individual musical contributions to the theatre organ world. To know that his own residence WurliTzer now lives on for all to enjoy, is testament to the esteem that he was held in.
No.27 KORLA PANDIT
For years KORLA PANDIT hoodwinked the people of America, and despite the revelations after he passed away, his music lives on with ever increasing popularity. I wonder why?
No.28 THE THREE SUNS
What can you say that hasn't already been said about the famous instrumental group THE THREE SUNS. This tribute video makes no attempt to tell you anything new, so just enjoy the music and pictures that take you back to an age when these guys made sweet music together.
No.29A ASHLEY MILLER
ASHLEY MILLER a doyen when it came to the theatre organ world. To this day his recordings are still considered to be some of the finest ever made at Radio City Music Hall, New York...not that he confined his recorded output to this famous WurliTzer. Take a musical journey in this, the first of a two-part tribute to a legendary artist.
No.29B ASHLEY MILLER
Continuing the story of ASHLEY MILLER with his own words and music. Organs featured include the Dick Loderhouse residence WurliTzer organ / Trenton War Memorial Moller organ / Detroit Theatre Organ Club WurliTzer and the Sargent-Stark WurliTzer in North Hollywood.
No.30A JERRY ALLEN
Having worked with, and for Jerry Allen it was always my intention to add his contribution to the organ world in the ORGAN CELEBRITIES series. It could not have been achieved without the direct help and approval of his family, nor could it be covered in just one video. Therefore this video covers his early years, and the story behind the formation of his original Trio.
No.30B JERRY ALLEN
Continuing the JERRY ALLEN story, this second & final video covers those years when he appeared, with his TV Trio, on the daily live editions of ATVs LUNCHBOX, and also recalls his marriage, his recordings and the inestimable contribution he made to the world of the electronic organ.
