Our Caring Sharing Council?
Every time it rains, it rains? But it's not pennies from heaven. It's flooding in Neath Abbey! It has done for years and what has our caring and sharing council (as they have the cheek to call themselves) done about it? Sweet Fanny Adams.
There are quite a lot of elderly and disabled people living in the Stratton Way area of Neath Abbey and most of them find it convenient to do their shopping in Tesco's stores.
When the Pelican crossing on the main road outside Tesco's store gets flooded. It's impossible for anyone to cross the road whether they are fit or disabled. They would get absolutely drenched from the water thrown up by the traffic going through the floodwater that holds directly on the crossing). The water is sometimes so deep, that the traffic has to divert to the other side of the road to get through.
(See the photos below).
As anyone can see, (The camera does not lie). This leaves the residents of Cwrt Herbert and Neath Abbey, or anyone else wishing to make use of this crossing for that matter, in an intolerable position. Ok, you can always say that they can cross the road further down by the council depot? Just try it? To do so means, you take your life into your own hands by trying to dodge the traffic that is using the main road. Hell would freeze over before any one of them drivers would give way to enable a person to cross to the other side of the road.
Now for those people who wish to or want to walk into Neath town by way of the main road passing alongside of the Cwrt Herbert playing fields. It is the same story. It is impossible to get through the water which floods the other Pelican Crossing which is outside of CEM Days garage on the other side of the roundabout.
(Again see the below pictures).
I wonder how much the council charge CEM Days for council tax and business rates?
I wouldn't mind betting that it is a small fortune and for that amount, they still expect them to put up with situations like this. See the picture below where the flood water is forcing upwards underneath the rear wheels of the grey car.
What a cheek?
While we are on the subject of cheek!!
You can see by the pictures of the flooding in the both the areas, how difficult it would be for anyone to get to do any shopping in town or Tesco's stores or to even get out of Neath Abbey on foot.
Every morning, if you look closely. You will be able see our famous council leader Cllr Ali (BaBa) Thomas being picked up in his chauffeur driven limo (At the council tax payers expense of course) and being driven straight through the flooding to spend his day doing whatever it is a council leader does at the council offices? (Which I suspect is not a lot?). Certainly without a thought or a care in the world of how other people manage to get through the water. Or what he and/or the council could do to alleviate the problems this flooding causes?
Vote Labour??? Like hell. Not when they have such a bungling and un-caring labour led council that has directors and deputy directors of road/traffic departments such as we have in NEATH. After seeing the mess they just leave us to get on with when it rains and floods.
I can come to no other conclusion, other than it would appear that the Neath Port Talbot County Borough council and its leader and senior management must be socially bankrupt, if not financially bankrupt to say the least? Why? For not even attempting to try to sort out this severe problem of flooding and leaving the council tax payer's to suffer again?
They may not have the brains to sort it out. I do not know?
But Ali (BaBa) Thomas and his Labour led council's attitude to all this appears to be.
Screw them.
I'm alright Jack?
Dai Dust.
