OTHER LOCAL GANG SHOWS

Crest of a Wave was not the only show in town!

Over the years there have been two others to my knowledge - and there may have been more.

There was a District Show in 195? held at the old St John's Hall on Rolleston Road. It was produced by Freddie Baker, who was an Assitant District Commissioner and David Lee. I know I've got a programme somewhere in the loft. It will appear here when I find it!!!

The Grammar School Scout Group (the 26th Burton) put on a show in December 1957. I was 15 at the time. As well as being a Gang member, I seem to have been involved with scenery and publicity!!

In item 14 above (Stand by for your medical), a number of names come to mind. Barry Leggett went on to become a teacher at Hillside School (later Paulett School), D.Burns went on to become His Honour Judge David Burns, Keith Olner later became Scout Leader at 26th, and is well known locally as a Director of a local Engineering Company.  Ian Mitchell followed the same profession as myself (Civil Engineering) He worked on the construction of "Spaggheti Junction" and was my Best Man at my wedding. Sadly he died mid 2011 from prostrate cancer.

I found this programme in an old log book of a former Burton Scout Leader. (See News page for entry dated 5th June 2013)

It was printed on poor quality paper by a Roneo/Gestetner type duplicator. I've done my best to Photoshop it so it's more readable.
