This is a free Spanglefish 1 website.

It will be great to hear from you. Why not share some of your memories here.

Hello to everyone
hi everybody
Bumped into John Brooks today whilst repairing his internet. It wasn't long before we established the connection of the Gang Shows and he told me about this site which I think is wonderful.
I hope everyone is doing well and keeping safe, it was lovely to go down memory lane...thanks for the memories

Hi Steve,
Glad you've found our web site. Hope you're keeping OK.
I normally get an auto notification of any new contacts but somehow it didn't happen hence the lateness of my contact.
Regards.

Just "Hi" to all...
Stuck at home for the last two and a half months here in Singapore. I hope everybody is getting through this and nobody has suffered too much.

Hi Mark,
Good to hear from you again.

Sorry I've only just caught up with your post.

Keeping OK and now waiting for my second "jab", due next month.

Are you still in the catering business?

Everyone I'm still in touch with is keeping plodding on through this pandemic.

Nice to keep in touch.

Gang Show
Just came across this website. What memories. I have the programmes from the two Gang Shows I was in in BOT, plus one I went to see in Coventry. I was in the 6th Burton Cubs and Scouts (Victoria St and then Byrkley St,later in the 10th Byrkley Chalet when the two troops merged. My brother Dave was the 'assistant' pianist to Hartley Mallinson and also one time troop leader at the 10th. Lovely to see photos of Mick Payne, Bob Scattergood, Ron Bladon etc etc etc. I remember my audition (at Brook House?) when I sang 'I like a nice cup of tea in the morning...'!

Hi Adrian,
Many apologies for not acknowledging your contribution of over a year ago. The web site is supposed to forward any posts to my in-box - but it obviously failed!
Anyway, good to hear from you.
Please pass my regards to Dave.

Mike
We're plodding on here keeping fairly fit and well. I keep in tough with John Sharp and Geoff Beedle (drummer) every Christmas. I saw Geoffs photo in my national newspaper recently having his "jab" at Lichfield cathedral. Ne's now 87. It's sobering to think that the majority of cast members will now be over 50!!!
Please pass my regards to Dave

Memories
A week ago we had to clear my 85 year old Mother's loft in Burton so that a new cold water tank could be installed.

What's that got to do with Gang Shows you probably ask! Well, amongst a box of my late Father's old LP's were 3 'Crest of a Wave' records which I've brought home to Cheshire as I feature on them from over 40 years ago!

My introduction to the first Burton gang show in 1968 was due to my old GSL, John Walling press-ganging several of his 'Stretton' scouts, venture scouts and leaders into joining the cast. I went on to appear in two further shows with my pals from Stretton, Brian Hayns, Mick Hall, Rob Field, the Cartwright brothers and others I've now forgotten before moving away from Burton in 1981 and I have some fond memories of the fun we all had.

Before I set about transferring the three LP's onto CD I Googled 'Burton Gang Show' and found this great website and have spent time today re-living some of those memories. Imagine how different things would have been back in the early '70's if we'd had the internet, digital photography and digital recording!

Anyway, thank you to Mike Payne for putting all of the information together and giving us the chance to wander through those lovely times, even if you did manage to chop half of my head off, and everyone else's on the back row when you scanned one of the photographs!

Great to hear from you Paul.
Now you've set me a task of finding the originals and rescanning your photo!!
Watch this space to see if I've been successful.
