Friday eveningby Inspiration at last! - 22:12 on 16 January 2009 So I think I may have inadvertently stumbled on what my area of investigation is...and I have, I think, an ideal vehicle through my work upon which to embark on my journey.
I reckon I need to film this thinking to really capture it, but it's been under my nose all this time - comes down to not cauling that which is closest and most familiar to you, I guess. Anyway, if the Find Your Talent Pilot is worth anything, the journey we're on right now is definitely worth embarking on.
FYT (in North Somerset) offers us the chance to create a systematic and coherent approach to offering young people access to, participation in and creation of their own creative and cultural experiences.
I guess I was shying away from it as it is operating o so many levels, but, in truth, the underpinning philosophy is put simply and stated in our three central criteria for any FYT project we undertake:
1. How will it impact upon young people's advocacy/ empowerment/ efficacy (not sure on what term fits best)?
2. In what ways will this experience/ learning opportunity widen young people's horizons and contribute to educating them out of their social context?
3. How will this experience bring about real change at (a) individual (b) community (c) global levels?
There. I'm going to invite comments on this so far and see if it's a go-er.
Tea now. Way too late to be thinking like this - I'm a morning person...really!!

'How do I enhance my influence with young people who are clarifying and developing their own talents?'
If you would video-tape yourself with young people as you are working to help them to recognise and develop their own talents I think you could create a visual narrative that could explain your educational influences in the learning of the young people (as well as your own learning). I think you would discover the importance of co-creating educational spaces in which creativity could be expressed in the recognition and development of talents.
You could chat to Marie about the web-links, where I've been trying to help practitioner-researchers to enquire into their educational influences in the learning of young people.
Love Jack.
