Parkour Learning

by Lisa lightbulb moment... - 09:20 on 29 March 2009

One of the projects I'm working on at the moment is setting up groups of young people to design & deliver & evaluate their own creative/ cultural projects. One learner wants to do some event to express himself through his interest in Parkour. So I was listening to Radio 4 yesterday morning and on came a very articulate, eloquent young man, being interviewed about Parkour.

As I was listening, I realised that the young man, Ben Moffat, was describing one of the most powerful analogies for 21st Century learning. Anyway, I'm in the midst of putting together my thought on this and developing some work around it for future discussions with teachers. But in the meantime, have a watch of this short film (unusual not least because it's a young woman who's into Parkour) and listen to what she understands about the underpinning philosophy of Parkour...
