ARNALLT OWEN 2 WOOD PAIRS TOURNAMENT 2025
Now in its third year, the tournament was a great occasion for the club in memory of a much-missed Life Member and consummate bowler Arnallt Owen.
Pairs had entered from all over South Wales with some travelling from as far afield as Dinas Powys the Rhondda in the East and Tenby in the West
The weather was fine on the day and all who played complimented the Club on the playing surface and pace of the green.
There were several entries from Club Members with the most successful being the pairing of John Morgans and Joshua Hancock who reached the final of the main cup competition before losing to the experienced pair of Phil Davies and Callan Farrell of Thomastown Bowling Club in the Rhondda.
The standard of bowling throughout the day was at a very high level and it was pleasing to see so many mixed pairings as well as young bowlers such as Brychan Lewis and Owain Williams of Kidwelly Bowling Club who did exceptionally well in reaching the Quarter Final only to lose to the eventual winners.
The eventual winners of the main tournament and £500.00 first Prize were Phil Davies and Callan Farrell of Thomastown Bowling Club who defeated John Morgans and Joshua Hancock of Carmarthen Bowling Club, by 23 shots to 17 in an entertaining and closely fought final. The losing Semi Finalists were King Jones and Alan Roberts of Llandeilo B.C. and Tony Duckfield and Cameron White respectively.
