After a full english, we teed of at 10:30. The sky was grey and rain was expected, but didn't arrive. The clouds broke on the back 9 and we enjoyed bright sky and sunshine. The course used to be a coal pit and has been returned to nature well. Surprisingly, there were no rabbits in sight nor their dropping, leading me to suspect that one must have seen the original pit shafts and didn't want to compete with the rabbits occupying those warrens!
The green were very good and often difficult. I was informed that in Rolls Royce parlance many would be considered compound surfaces. the mature holes were as good as anywhere we have played and the course can only get better.
