Brinicombe Equine Pairs Competition
The pairs competition is open to riders entering the 32km GER at any level. If you don't have a partner, let us know and we will try to team you up with another rider. It is being worked out on a formula we have devised ourselves, not performance formula. Do you dare to pair?
Loosely it involves a set speed (depending if you are entering novice or open class) and heart rate. If you wish to ride with your partner, we would suggest finding one of the same grade as yourself (open and advanced will be given the same speed).
The actual formula is a closely guarded secret known only to the ride-organisers and will be displayed on the notice board in the secretary's tent on the day of the ride for everyone to see. Make sure you read it to see what you are aiming for! The aim is to get as few penalty points as possible.
The pair can be both the same grade, or different. Their penalties will be added together once they have completed and passed the ride. The pair with the least penalties win! In the unlikely event of a tie, heart rates will be used as the decider.
This is a real challenge as you have to plan your strategy on the day. If you are a non-member and want to enter you can do so on the 'try before you buy' scheme (see links tab for further details).
There is a rosette for each competitor for the first three places, in addition to the usual grading/ride rosettes that all successful combinations receive. In addition our sponsor, Brinicombe Equine have kindly donated prizes for first and second places.
