HOT STONE THERAPY

Hot stone therapy is a wonderful, deeply relaxing thermotherapy that combines the use of hot basalt stones with cold marble stones (you do not necessarily have to combine with cold stones!) with massage and induces a feeling of well-being, relaxation and balance. The rocks used are generally smooth basalt lava stones, that are able to retain heat for a longer time. The most important benefit of the hot stone massage therapy is that hot stones can dilate blood vessels, this way enhancing blood circulation. This factor will gradually sedate the nervous system which leads to a calmer state of mind and a destressed body. Other benefits of Hot Stone Therapy consist of the following:

  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Cleanses and detoxes the body
  • Balances the mind, body and spirit
  • Eases away aches and pains
  • Reduces pain and discomfort
  • Deep relaxation
  • Energising
  • Grounding
  • Insomnia

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A HOT STONE THERAPY TREATMENT?

A short consultation before your treatment commences will allow the therapist to decide upon the placement of the stones upon your body. Thus followed by a deeply relaxing, energising and indulging massage with the use of the hot stones.  The stones are heated prior to treatment and then usually set on the main energy points of the body.  The stones are different sizes and will be placed on your spine and underneath your body. They will also be placed on your forehead, hands and even between your toes.  The massage treatment will last for approximately 1 hour and a half.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM HOT STONE THERAPY?

Almost anyone can benefit from Hot Stone Therapy but as with all treatments a consultation will take place prior to commencement of the massage and this will allow the therapist to decide upon your suitability for treatment.  In some cases a GP consent may be required.  Please be aware that all information will be kept in a private and confidential manner.
