ABOUT SWEDISH BODY MASSAGE
Human touch is a basic primary need and massage has been used by the Chinese, Indians, Egyptians and Greeks for centuries (3000 BC). Massage is mentioned in sacred texts and tombs. Today's modern Swedish Body Massage is a result from research conducted and includes massage techniques based upon and originated from Per Henrik Ling (1776-1839). Ling used terms such as Effleurage and Petrissage based upon Swedish Massage. Massage not only helps the body physically with aches and pains but also psychologically with feeling of well-being and relaxation. Overall a massage can help you to unwind and de-stress from today's modern world.
WHO CAN ENJOY SWEDISH BODY MASSAGE?
Swedish body massage can be enjoyed by almost everyone but there are some conditions that may require your GP's consent. An initial consultation will enable your therapist to ensure that the treatment is suitable for you and to ensure your well-being and adapt the massage to your requirements and needs. All information is kept in a private and confidential manner.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SWEDISH BODY MASSAGE?
A Swedish Body Massage usually lasts for an hour. Warmed towels and blankets will be used to ensure your modesty. Your therapist will use oil, creams or talc to ensure a fluid and free flowing massage. These will also nourish your skin. At the beginning of the massage the Effleurage technique will be used which means to glide and flow with stroking and sooting strokes followed by Petrissage and Vibrations which are quick, rhythmic strokes and are warming and invigorating.
