A BRIEF HISTORY

Indian Head Massage has been practised in India for centuries and is based upon the Ayurvedic healing system.  The word “Ayurvedic” translates as the “science of life” and is based on achieving inner peace. Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine native to the Indian sub-continent and those that practise believe that in order to complete and balance the body’s natural healing system the mind, body and soul must be in balance.  Techniques have been handed down through generations and is practised by the entire family from the age of three, in their daily routine.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE?

The treatment will last for approximately 30 minutes and is performed on the upper back, neck, shoulders, arms, hands, scalp and face. You will be invited to take a seat on a specifically designed chair.  The use of oils are optional but advisable due to their many additional benefits.  If the treatment is performed without oils you can remain fully clothed and a light t-shirt would be recommended.  If oil is preferred upper clothing should be removed and a modesty gown will be provided. Full aftercare and homecare advice will also be given.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Almost everyone including the elderly and children can benefit from an Indian Head Massage. All treatments will require a consultation to determine suitability and to address any areas for improvement or to tailor make the treatment for your needs. This will also provide important medical history and in some cases a G.P. consent may be required.  Please be assured that all information will remain private and confidential.
