The moths of wadesmill.... page one

 From the 21st May 2015 I have started recording the moths caught in my garden in Wadesmill using a Skinner trap .

Abbreviations used are F.S flight season . L.C Life cycle. H, Habitat. L. F P Larval foodplants. Please  click an an image for a larger view.

Flight season: May-June, One generation.
Life cycle; over winters as a pupa,Larva late June - early Oct, grows slowly. Thin silken cocoon formed on the food plant or in the debris near the food plant.
Habitat: gardens ,parks,
bushy places etc.
Larval food plants; broad leaved trees and shrubs inc hawthorn , crab apple, birches, limes

Flight season;Mainly two generations,late April-June and August.
Life cycle: Over winters as pupa underground
Larval food plants: Aspen, willows, poplars and sallows.
Habitat: Woodland, scrub, gardens and parks.

Life cycle: Over winters as a small larva,larva June- April, feeds at night at ground level,pupates underground.
Larval food plants: A range of herbaceous plants inc Knapweeds, Dandelion and Greater Plantain .
Habitat: Grassland some gardens, hedgerows , verges and open woodland

Flight season: one generation in most places May-july or early August,a partial 2nd generation in the south in August/September
does not feed.
larval food plants: Poplars also Sallows and Willows particularly Goat willow and Grey willow.
Habitat:Anywhere the larval food plant grows inc parks and gardens,Woods and moorland

Flight season: Two generations, mid may-early August with The small second generation in September.
Life cycle: Overwinters as a fully grown larva in an underground cell in which it pupates
Larval food plants: A wide range of wild and cultivated herbaceous plants inc fat-hen.
Habitat: Pasture ,arable farmland and gardens.
