7th March 2015 :The first walk/ cycle ride of the year, starting out from wadesmill on what was probably the mildest day so far, travelling up the hill towards Highcross  we noticed the daffodils just beginning to open up in the hedgerow and spotted a ladybird basking in the warmth . In Highcross we watched the rooks for a few minutes as they noisily called to each other then cycled down hill in marshalls lane and then a walk up the steep hill the other side where the field on the right was  being top dressed, further along the lane skylarks were heard singing and just as we came towards dilley wood some fallow deer in the far fields were spotted as they moved in closer towards the hedgerow.Stopping in Sacombe green we take a rest and have a cup of coffee on the village green seat and listen to the birds singing, high above  a mistle thrush, whilst nearby a robin, bluetit and a chaffinch seemed to be in competion with one another. Cycling further along the lane we take in the views across the fields towards the golf course and enjoy the peace and quiet of the country side that will soon burst into leaf and flower. Into pesthouse lane now and  celandine flowers adorn the roadside, we now  coast downhill for a fair way before eventually come to the old A10 and highcross where we stop and take another look at the rookery before coasting downhill to Wadesmill.

16th May 2015: Just a short cycle ride from Wadesmill.  Starting from the old church path we make our way along towards the old church, along the path we hear black caps and white throats singing ,the cow parsley with their frothy white blooms make the various greens in the hedgerow stand out . Several butterflies were seen including small cabbage white, orange tip, and hedge brown, sitting on a fence post near the old church a male kestrel preening .cycling past the old church we stop and look at the sheep and lambs in the meadow, blackbird and song thrush are singing nearby. We now turn up the track and head for cold Christmas lane stopping halfway up to take in the views of the old church nestling amongst the trees,to our left we look over the valley towards harebrow. Now on Cold Christmas lane we head for "cowards", stopping once again to look at the views across the fields towards thundridge then onwards to moles farm . As we get near to the farm skylark was heard singing and perched on a post we caught a brief  view of a yellow wagtail, a little further on a lapwing (or peewit) was displaying. On a muddy puddle near some old machinery house martins were collecting mud for their  nest building.Back on the main road now we head back towards Thundridge and home.
