Reluctantly I have decided to put The Riverside up for sale.
Our regular customers know our aim was to create from scratch a top dining restaurant in a beautiful rural tourist area, with the added attraction of Alasdair Gray's re-discovered mural. However in the space of just our first year, based on the excellent food reviews and resultant publicity, we have now lost the services of yet another talented young chef, again headhunted (poached!) and this time by a top city restaurant.
This is emotionally frustrating and commercially restrictive. As a result I feel it would probably be better for the Riverside to have a more hands-on owner operator for consistency and continuity. Because of the standard we have achieved and the resultant difficulty in replacing our chef with someone as good in the short term, the Riverside will therefore be closed temporarily from the 15th May 2010 until a new owner takes over.
