51st Entry Fiftieth Anniversary Reunion. 23rd – 25th January 2014.
Thursday 23rd January
Arrival and check-in at Park Inn, Hotel, Telford. TF3 4NA. Collect name badges and information pack, view dinner seating arrangements. Utilise hotel facilities – Indoor pool, steam room, sauna, Jacuzzi, spa public bar.
1700 Telford Suite bar – 51st Entry Memorabilia on a projector/screen and 1964/65 music to accompany all those ‘war stories’ (courtesy of Wheldon/Marriott music.com)
1900 Buffet Telford Suite – Bar with late closing and ‘specials’ (Tiger available!)
Friday 24th January.
Breakfast
10.00 Depart for RAF Cosford Museum TF11 8UP. (Own cars).
12.00 - 1300 Lunch at museum cafeteria -
meet with local media 'Shropshire Star' photographer and reporter at the Museum
13.15 Or soon after. RAF Cosford Tour - Assemble at the long stay car park (Left hand side of approach road just before Railway Bridge) and then transfer to 50 seat coach situated in the short stay Car Park. RAF Cosford tour starts promptly at 13.30 for 50 people maximum -visiting the technical and training facilities, Fulton, Portal and Boyle blocks for photographs.
Remainder to visit the ‘fleshpots’ of Albrighton, Shifnal, Telford town centre – or use of hotel facilities and bar as above.
17.30 ‘Committee’ members to assist in preparing tables
18.30 Pre-dinner drinks in Telford Suite Bar. Shifnal Photographer Phil Hynds on hand to take pictures of guests on arrival. Pictures can be purchased on the evening or after the event.
19.20 Call through for Evening formal gala dinner. Dress: Black Tie or Jacket & Tie.
Gerry Reid - Loyal toast to HM Queen.
David Lee - names of the deceased. Followed by a minute silence.
Dinner to start at 19.30 followed by toasts & presentations. Followed by disco & late bar
Saturday 25th January
Breakfast – Check out of Hotel
10.00 Proceed to National Memorial Arboretum, DE13 7AR.
10.45 - 11.00 Assemble at the Millennium Chapel of Peace and Forgiveness which is situated close to the Visitor Centre for the daily Act of Remembrance, incorporating the Last Post, Silence and Reveille. Wreath for 51st Entry deceased to be laid at the RAF, Boy Entrant Memorial.
12.30 – 13.00. Meet at the Arbour Restaurant in the Visitor Centre for refreshments and farewells for those leaving or whenever suits you, depart for home or back to the hotel bar!
