The season is in full swing with events coming thick and fast. Hard to believe it is a year ago since our Centenary weekend!
Grantown On Spey once again  entertained The Pitlochry Golf Club on its annual outing. A number of members were in a  boisterous mood , mainly due to considerable amount of refreshment that was carefully nursed around the course. However the golf was not adversely affected. Colin Milne did a professional job in captaining his team to third. Willie Black’s team came an excellent  second , whilst the Captain’s team , with an exhibition of power and precision, scooped first in Pitlochry and third overall.  I was glad of some golf balls after losing five pro vs in array of trees, roads and ditches!
Special thanks to Pitlochry Golf Ltd for sponsoring a special medal competition for us on Sat 5th June. The generous prizes increased the nerves sufficiently to ensure another poor round from yours truly..but not so many others who put together some great golf. I played with Steve Reid who did not play a bad shot, but he was narrowly pipped by Willie Black who once again demonstrated that despite a break, class is never lost .
Sunday 6th June saw two events…The 1909 club challenge at Hopeman and the Centenary event at Pitlochry. We took a team of 8 who, were a respectable fourth, competing on foreign soil. However Kirriemuir stole the show and beat Hopeman on their home turf. Next year they defend the title at Kirriemuir, making a successfulfdefence a distinct possibility.
The Centenary adopted a novel format which seemed to work well, with a shotgun start and mixed ( men ladies and juniors) groups. Congratulations to Connor Seaton for winning the overall.
The match between The Pitlochry Golf Club and Pitlochry Ladies Club was  thoroughly enjoyable. It finished with PGC just narrowly stealing the bragging rights.
The final two rounds of the club championship take place on Sunday 13th June. Tom McLevy has put together two excellent opening rounds, but there is still a talented chasing pack. Spectators welcome.
