SUSPECT WELDS
In the same way as a chain is as strong as its weakest link, the LNG pipeline is as strong as its weakest weld.
The new South Wales LNG pipeline has hundreds of welds. In addition to the pipes being butt welded, each pipe has a seam weld running the length of it.
Below are photographs of some suspect butt welds, the welds joining one section of pipe to another.
