Knox Family Background

The furthest I can trace back of the Knox family line that Elsie married into is a George Knox, her husband George's Grandfather, born about 1805 around Wick at the very North of Scotland. He worked as ploughman and apparently resided in Wick his whole life. He was married to Margaret Richardson and, of their children, they had 2 sons: George, born around 1839; William born around 1847 who was Elsie's Father-in-Law.

William later became a cattleman and ploughman and married Eliza MacPherson, daughter of Peter and Elisa MacPherson, in May of 1869 at Logie Easter in Ross-Shire, which is about 80 Miles South of his home town of Wick.  There is no established link between these MacPhersons and Elsie's MacPherson lineage.

Their Son George was born later in 1869 in CarryBlair Edderton, just a few miles from the birthplace of his future wife Elsie.  However, George mainly grew up away from Edderton, elsewhere in various places around Ross-Shire, so it is doubtful that he didn't meet Elsie until adulthood.

George and her married in 1896 and, with his agricultural skills, they moved around quite regularly until they emigrated to Canada in 1912 (nearly 2 months after the Titanic's ill-fated voyage).

Of their 6 daughters, only Barbara and Clara Knox shared the same birthplace.
