CONSTITUTION AND MEMBERSHIP

In April/May 2020, we made the decision to formally constitute the North Coast Abattoir Group as an Unincorporated Association.  This gives us a corporate identity which can apply for grant funding in its own name - and we need grant funding to construct a business case to demonstrate that can create a sustainable abattoir.

The Constitution of the North Coast Abattoir Group can be read here with the signatures on the back page visible here

The meeting at which the North Coast Abattoir Group was created is documented here, again with the signatures visible separately here.

We had to hold this meeting remotely due to the constraints of the Coronavirus pandemic, and it was mostly done by telephone and e-mail, as was the gathering of advice and guidance for the Constitution (thank you to Social Enterprise UK, First Port and Caithness Voluntary Group).  We have, however, finally reached a position from which we can proceed towards our goal.

The Group has now held its second Annual General Meeting, the minutes of which can be read here.  (Also the attachments referred to: Chairman's Report, Secretary's Report, Treasurer's Report with Expenditure and Projections and original Budget as presented to the Caithness Beatrice Community Fund.

MEMBERSHIP

As part of that forward progress, we would like to invite all our supporters to become members of the North Coast Abattoir Group so that we can demonstrate to potential grant funders that there is genuine interest in this project.

If you have read the Constitution, you will see that the Group's purpose is to raise funds for, commission and deliver the feasibility study.  If that study demonstrates that a private-kill abattoir is a feasible proposition, a more powerful body will be created to take the project to the next step.  Members of this first group, the North Coast Abattoir Group, are committing themselves only to supporting the need for a feasibility study.

Membership forms can be downloaded here in PDF format or if preferred, as WORD documents.  Signed forms should be returned either by post or e-mail to the address on the form.

We look forward to welcoming you on board!
