About us - the North Coast Abattoir Group
We ourselves, Morris and Essie Coghill, are farmers who very seriously feel that there should be an abattoir offering private kill services for the north coast of Scotland. Through word of mouth, we created a small group of like-minded people, but with no formal structure as we initially had no idea how a private kill abattoir might one-day be operated.
After carrying out a livestock producer survey, we could demonstrate that there genuinely was a real need for the service we have in mind. At that point, we realised we needed funding to undertake a proper feasibility study, and for that purpose we needed to create a more formal group with a constitution and membership.
