Youtube clampdown on videos

A Neath contributor to Youtube tells us that he has been instructed (by Youtube) to take down several of his videos because of copyright restrictions on the background music used.

One video included Neath's September Fair because the recording microphone picked up music being played by the fair itself.   Another video included a brass band playing at Victoria Gardens.

It is not known if the current clampdown is linked in any way to the EU Article 13 reported on this website.   If it is not, then it is likely to get worse.

The objective is to protect the copyright of music writers.

We understand that Youtube has their own library of permissible music but this is often not suitable for the production in the opinion of the producer.
