The Secrets of Queen Street

Secrets of Queen Street come to light

A Neath Ferret under cover researcher has made startling discoveries in Queen Street, all out of sight of everyone.

Going back to Victorian times Queen Street had many houses that were homes of wealthy residents.    Our researcher has discovered that most of the former homes had basements where servants lived and prepared food for those living upstairs. It was real case of 'Upstairs and Downstairs' right here in Neath. Victorian kitchens have been discovered below the shops that are trading today.

In order to make further investigations the identity of the findings recently discovered are being kept secret.   Access to the basements of other properties will given if the owners know that the information is not going into the pubic domain at the present time.

As some shops close due to the current high street economic situation they could possibly be a tourist attraction if the right support is given.

It could be a case of as one door closes another opens.  So Neath may well  have a promising future in a way that other towns (Port Talbot included) would crave for.
