Danger on road

Reader writes about parlous state of motorway on hospital route

The shocking state of the M4 near Swansea has been revealed in a dash cam footage.

The footage was shot near the exit for junction 45 eastbound, at Ynysforgan, a stretch of the M4 which has seen five crashes in the space of just one week this month, on both sides of the motorway.

It reveals a carriageway peppered with scars and potholes. The car can be seen visibly juddering as it travels over the road surface.

Now the Welsh Government has said repairs will be made to improve the road surface.

The five crashes all happened around junction 45 at Ynysforgan. Four people were taken to hospital following the incidents whilst one person had to be cut free from their vehicle."

I went to see my twin in Morriston Hospital Sat after having open heart surgery ,thankfully he is gaining ground, we came home to Neath on the M4 I have been driving for 57 years and have never in my life seen a major road such as this

I and other traffic had to slow down to 40mph although many idiots passed, this section of the road has claimed its 1st crashes and nothing as yet has been done,

the road does not want to be patched it should be dug up and a new surface put down, if one is speeding it would shred the tyres and I fear the consequences

I will again visit my twin but will avoid the M4 and go through Morriston as I do not want shredded tyres or to be taken to Morriston Hospital
