It must be political

WHY?

A reader criticized another when it was mentioned in the form of a question about the weekend staffing at Baglan Moors Hospital when Cllr Janice Dudley died - a political dig, it was thought.   Now compare that comment with the following:

"When Councillor Keith Reynolds, the Labour Leader of Caerphilly Council, died on 10 April this year, she (the MP for Neath - left) paid tribute to him on 11 April in a statement on her website. But in her own patch, not a word about the passing of Janice Dudley, in her year as Civic Head! There's also no word from Lord Hain either, who often makes statements when local Labour councillors pass away. It has to be political, surely, yet the mayoral role is supposedly non-political. How can these people be so petty? In quieter moments I've sometimes wondered whether I've got them wrong in my previous assessments of them. Then something like this comes along and I realise I had them sussed after all. Only think about themselves and their cronies."

The Editorial view is that Cllr Dudley should rest in peace - but tributes are deserved to a councillor that set an example to others and one that put people before politics.
