Difficult year for new Mayor?

A difficult year ahead for new Mayor?

Councillor Janice Dudley is the second Plaid Cymru councillor to be intalled as Mayor in the County Borough of Neath Port Talbot.   The previous Plaid Cymru councillor to hold this office was Cllr Martyn Peters of Duffryn Clydach.

It can be revealed that Cllr Peters had many uncomfortable moments while holding the office of Mayor with a shun by a member of a church and by the local newspaper who shunned many events he was attending.

At the end of his term of office there was no traditional Mayor's Ball, indicating the feelings of the Labour majority of councillors.

The office of Mayor is supposed to be non-political and we therefore hope that no bias will be shown against Cllr Dudley.    Indeed, Cllr Dudley is a very diplomatic person and is capable of being a very repected Mayor.

Any ill feeling could be another nail in the coffin of those who want to bury the office until the financial situation improves.
