++ VW emission scandal in the UK+

+ Why is the VW emission scandal being suppressed in the UK?

In the USA compensation is being paid by VW to car owners who bought diesel cars with fraud emission systems that gave false low readings while being tested.

Here in the UK the matter appears to be suppressed and we have heard little about it.   One alleged reason is that Theresa May is likely to use the case in negotiations over Brexit.

If this is not the likely reason, why hasn't the Government pursued the matter on behalf of the relevant VW owners who feel cheated by what has happened.   Why are Americans receiving compensation from VW and not British owners?   There is something odd somewhere as this appears to be most unfair.    Why is the matter hushed up and we are hearing nothing about it?    It is time that this matter was brought into the open and sorted out.

+  What MP will bring this matter up at a forthcoming PM Question Time?   Maybe one who has a VW diesel car in his family!

++ A reader responds:-

"Just one of very many reasons I would not even think of voting for the tory party.
An even bigger scandal is the death every year of many thousands of our fellow citizens from diesel engine vehicles emissions and the total failure of this government to address the problem.
Indeed, only recently they have had to be hauled kicking and screaming before the courts to answer charges of failing to produce a robust policy on this issue.
It simply demonstrates to me how little they care for the people of this country or the environment."
