Shocking sight for visitors to Neath

Shocking Neath Eye Sore - and its opposite Neath Railway Station!

Photo taken on the day that the BBC came to Neath to record Question Time

Visitors to Neath are confronted with a shocking eye sore as they go from Neath railway station to the Bus Station at Victoria Gardens when they travel up Queen Street Back Road - the shortest distance between the two points.

"If I was a councillor I would be ashamed," said the Neath visitor who sent us this revealing photograph.

The photograph was taken at the back of the Peacocks store in Queen Street.  It is alleged that the building is leased to them.   Is the land-lord aware of its condition?   Where are the council to allow this state of affairs?   It certainly reflects on them and the full time officers.

Note the tree growing out of the doorway - ideal for Christmas lights, perhaps?

Coaches  picking up travellers from the train station area use this road on a regular basis.   A taxi rank is close by, also picking up rail users.

The owner of the photograph has given permission for it to be used in any newspaper or documentary on the state of Neath.  Permission is also given for this report to be copied and printed in any publication.

This is a wake up call for those responsible for running our community.  Let's see how long it takes them to get results.

PS  .....  Those appearing on the BBC Question Time panel (and those in the audience) will have surely pasted this eye sore if they travelled to Neath by train and had a taxi to the Gwyn Hall where the show was taking place.   All taxis from the rail station use this route.  And remember, first impressions are lasting impressions.
