+ Official:  Pipers move to Birchgrove

Following our report below, it can now be confirmed that Pipers Fish Bar at Waunceirch has moved to Birchgrove.

A new notice on the frontage shutters state that the business is now at Birchgrove.

Previous to this, the owners stated that they were waiting for a part for their cooking range.   Now, after being closed for three weeks, the news has been made official after much rumour and speculation.   It is alleged that the high rent and business charges is the main reason for the move.

Customers are disappointed with the move and the deceitful way it was apparently done.   It appears the the equipment was moved at night in the hours of darkness.

The shutters are down and there is no sign of life.   The notice on the shutters said: "closed until Thursday for range maintenance"  - but did not say which Thursday.  Now the notice is gone - but the shutters are still down.

Pipers is located near the Waunceirch Tesco Express and opened in 2009 - now they have gone without an explanation.

There was no-one available from Pipers to comment.   Internet directory websites have not been updated - and Pipers own website cannot be found.

Rumour has it that a new business has been opened in Birchgrove.  Loyal customers at Waunceirch have been left in the dark.

It's no secret that the owners of the Waunceirch shop has long complained of the high rent, business rates and service charges related to the property.   Maybe this is in someway linked to the mystery?  No doubt this will come to light in due course.

From Facebook:
Piper's Fish Bar opened its doors on March the 2nd 2009. This family run business is operated by Brian, Ros and Chris Evans. Brian and Ros ran the Ritz Fish Bar in Skewen for 16 years and would love to welcome old and new customers to our shop in Waunceirch Retail park on Dwr-Y-Felin Road just up the road from Neath College.

+ The saga continues.   The latest explanation from an outside source is rather interesting.   It is alleged that the owner of Piper's Fish Bar discovered that the Indian business next door was paying a lower rent for their same size premises.  Following a complaint and an effort to get better terms from the Landlord, nothing was done about it.   It would appear that this may explain the suddern departure from the site.   This cannot of course be confirmed - but certainly puts a new light on the matter.
