The cost of dying is going up

Reader complains about the cost of dying

A reader writes (see Letters page):-

"If that doesn't take the biscuit. Not only do we pay the second highest average band D Council Tax in Wales (second to that other highly desirable area to live - Blaenau Gwent) but figures just announced show that NPT has the steepest increase in costs of cremation of nine local authorities who have declared figures in response to a Freedom of Information request.

NPT fees have risen from £385 in 2010-11 to £585 in 2015-16, a staggering increase of 52%.

Not only do they fleece you when you're alive, but they skin your next of kin when you're dead too. Oh, I'd forgotten. Now they can take anything useful of your organs before they put you in the oven as well - most of which will probably end up somewhere over Offa's Dyke. I've opted out of that - I'm not having my bits living on in Bradford or Tower Hamlets!"
