+ Danger of grass fires and a serious accident 

We cannot agree with the apparent policy of leaving motorway grass verges unattended to benefit nature and wildlife.  We even came across a website that advocates this and seeks the support of others.  

No consideration is given for the possiblity of a grass fire caused by a lighted cigarette end being thrown out of a vehicle.
