They smoke a lot in Neath!

One of our readers has sent us a photograph taken outside a Neath Public House about midday on Easter Monday. We have posted it on our front page as an example of how things should not be done. It is also reproduced below:

All of us have a responsibility towards keeping our environment clean. This particular instance is not one for our Council to clean up, in our opinion. In an ideal world we know that people out for a drink who smoke outside should put their waste cigarettes into a suitable bin or receptacle if one is provided. Unfortunately, not all will play ball.

So the next line of responsibility for dealing with the mess they leave should fall on the business owners whose establishment they are frequenting, albeit that the smokers are actually on the public street. In this instance there may be a peculiar set of circumstances we know nothing about and it is not what usually happens outside. However this sort of mess would have taken only minutes to clean up.

This establishment had already been open for several hours and the overall owner of the business prides himself on the company's website for having a fine eye for detail. Let us hope for those employees' sakes then that Neath was not on his itinerary on Easter Monday.
