Do Neath Councillors really care?

Do Neath Councillors really care about the foul drain smells in Neath town centre?

by John Phillip

Cllr David Lewis (left) states that Welsh Water is responsible for the drains and sewers in Neath - and the discharge of sewage into the River Neath near the town centre.

Cllr Lewis has also said that Welsh Water would take more notice of the situation if Neath residents wrote and complained directly to them.   But what are Neath councillors doing about all this?    Surely it is for councillors to act for and on behalf of the residents they represent - this means that they should take up the matter with Welsh Water.

However, we think that it would be more effective if the council as a whole should tackle the problem with Welsh Water - is this being done?

The councillors for the problem patch are pictured right - let's hope that they have been in touch with Welsh Water and have had a positive response.

The residents of Neath should not be treated like mushrooms and kept in the dark.   Action should be taken now in the development of the town centre.    Co-ordination between authorities is essential and must be seen by residents to be taking place.
