White Elephant to be removed from road
Cllr Janice Dudley writes:
"After much lobbying by myself, I am pleased to notify you that the Bus Blocker/ Old Barrier outside the Waterstones Development Waunceirch is finally to be taken away, It will mean closing the Road off for the work to be carried out and it is planned for either the first or Second Sunday in December.
I AM AWAITING the final Plans in order to ensure the changes are what the Residents are happy with."
The barrier to which Cllr Dudley refers was installed by the council in the late 1990's at a cost of thousands of pounds and was never really used. The idea was to restrict traffic going past the Waunceirch primary school. This coincided with notices on the A48 road saying no access to North Waunceirch. Since then the council's U turn has resulted in 38 ridge top houses being built by Waterstones Developers
PLUS a shopping complex (Tesco Express included) opposite the school. The current situation is that the traffic flow past the school at peak times is now a serious concern. The above photo (left) shows an ambulance crossing the barrier before the houses were built.
The photo on the right show one of the two notices that were at one time on the main A48 road when the barrier was first built.
