Street lights lit by Sewer Gas?
Comment
With the cost of electricity soaring, perhaps we should think of the past when street lights were lit by sewer gas - and there is evidence of plenty being available in Neath.
Shown left is a street lamp powered by sewer gas in bygone times. The only problem would be the cost of conversion.
Maybe it would be more cost effective for Neath to have a modern sewage treatment works and have the gas produced to drive turbines to generate electricity? Also we should investgate old mine workings for gas that could used effectively.
It seems that we are being driven to explore all possibilities in our quest for cheaper power. This country has the brains to do this - now with our pockets being affected we should have the will.
