Royal Mail - Greed before need?

Many are sure to say that Post Office workers are being black 'mailed' into accepting the flotation by being given shares.  Looking at the situation from an independent angle, the question arises: 'Is it greed before need?'

Has the Royal Mail/Post Office changed with the times and allowed for E-mails and other forms of communication.   Many think not - instead there has been what appears to be poor management.    Here on the local scene no post collection box has been added in the Waunceirch area for the past fifty years, despite hundreds of houses being built.   Hardly encouragement to post a letter - is it?

Then there is the closure of local sub-post offices and the need for an elderly person to have a taxi to go to the nearest one - a case previous reported on our Readers Letters page.

Maybe the fault lies in the rigid attititude of those in charge with rules and regulations as it was in days before BT when no-one was allowed to own their own telephone instrument.

On the other hand, privatisation of the Post Office may be a good thing when we will see post office counters at all supermarkets - and a much required post collection box at Waunceirch - see the campaign website below.

Note -- The Crown Post Office at Windsor Road is scheduled to close in the near future.
