Cllr Janice Dudley writes about weather problems

Report from Cllr Janice Dudley

Thinking back as you do every New Year to last winters very cold

conditions, I remember how we were unprepared for the Ice and Snow, Road grit ran out very quickly and staff not prepared.
This Year the Council ensured that all Staff were trained properly and
fully Stocked with Grit to ensure we were not caught out this winter
Unfortunately we do not have a Crystal Ball and this winter we have
different problems.

Two days before Christmas a dreadful Landslide occurred at Panteg near
Ystalfera, The Mountain came down to the Church Hall, Water pipes
broken, large old trees taken out and their roots up in the air, the
road to Ystalfera was totally blocked, Eleven houses had to vacate their
homes.

This Winter our problems are different. Water, drainage and Flooding is
the issue throughout the Borough. The Council are doing their best to
help the people from the affected areas, unfortunately the blighted
trees having to be felled have not helped in certain areas, but it had
to be done.

If you are aware of any issues of that nature that are problematic
please contact me or the Council on 01639 686868 before the same thing
will happen elsewhere.

Ed Note.... The above report also appears on Cllr Dudley's website - so it assumed the problematic issues she refers to would apply to her own ward of Bryncoch South.
