NO NEW YEAR HONOURS FOR NEATH COUNCILLORS

It was perhaps a honour to be nominated in the first place, but in the end the nominations for 'NPT Councillor of the Year' have to be endorsed by residents - the readers of this website.    These endorsements did not materialise.  Maybe it was because of a reflection of councillors as a whole, as expressed on our readers' letters page.   In fact there has been a suggestion from more than one source that the number of councillors should be reduced as a saving to the community tax-payer.

If we were biased, or unfair, it would have been so easy for us to have named one councillor for the honour.   As it is, the councillors concerned must be satisfied they were just nominated.

Having said all this, we still think that certain councillors of both parties should be recognised for doing that little extra of what is expected from them - maybe that is why the nominations originated in the first place?
