NPT Councillor of the year ?

This year our readers are keener than ever to look at councillors and evaluate their worth and what they are doing for the community.   Already we have had two nominations for councillor of the year, even before we thought about it.

With this in mind, we cannot disappoint our readers so we are going for it.   Who will be the NPT councillor of the year?   Those nominating the councillors in question have given their reasons for doing so.   We think it is important to do this - the reason is what decides the outcome.

Not for anyone to say we are biased, we must tell you that the two nominated councillors (to date) are from the Plaid Cymru party.   We say this to spur Labour supportors to nominate some of their councillors - we can't be fairer than that.

Maybe this nomination issue will prove who are the keenest supporters for their councillors.     Remember, this is NOT a party issue - it is for councillors who have done best for those who have elected them.    In other words, who has done best for the community.

Who will judge and decide the outcome.   We will appoint a number of non-partisan residents who will base their decision on the reasons given for the nominations.

We are tempted to award a wooden spoon for the most disappointing councillor but have decided to wait until official figures are produced to indicate those missing meetings, appointments and failing to return telephone calls - so this is for the future.

So nominate the councillor who, in your opinion, has done most for their ward and for the community.
