Reader reveals what Civic Sundays really are
We have always said that we print news that newspapers won't. Now we print a letter (readers' letters) from a reader that reveals, allegedly, how some of the public's money is being spent at a time of cut backs in some sections of the public sector.
We print the letter in good faith, hoping that someone will say otherwise, or give a good reason why these events should take place during the present financial climate. If true, no-one can deny that these events cost money to take place.
We can, however, reveal that we have heard that the NPT CBC are no longer giving glasses of wine to their councillors before council meetings - so maybe someone, somewhere, is starting to give thought about what is happening in the real world.
If anyone in authority can put us straight on these matters we will be pleased to print the details. That is what should happen in a honest and open society.
