Empire Viva
Empire Gone - Vauxhall Car Remains
Special care was taken to preserve the Vauxhall Viva wreck 'planted' outside the former Neath Empire while the building was being demolished. As you can see from the photo (left) it is well protected by scaffolding. The owner said the car was put there around five years ago to stop others parking on the patch - a spot where queues used to stand to go into the cinema in the 1940-50's.
At one time the Empire was regarded as a land mark - now its the Vauxhall Visa. We can't help wondering if its presence will help to promote the sale of the forthcoming flats?
We have heard a rumour that the car is not for sale at any price!
