Planning goes bonkers!

Will road traffic scheme go bananas?
Traffic Wardens wanted in force
Time for concern for councillors

When schools return from their August holidays on 4/5 September, problems are sure to occur at Banana Island at Roman Way at Court Herbert.   The new road layout will have to cope with buses carrying pupils from the former Longford School to the new school at Court Herbert.
Many residents think that it will be a grid-lock situation on the busiest section of road in the whole of the NPT CBC area.
Parents are concerned because they believe their children will be at risk when crossing the main road.   The other point of concern is that the turning circle of the buses will not be able to cope with the drop off point on the east side of the Banana Island.   Even more problems are expected when parents collect their children by car at the end of a school day.

The area is covered by the two councillors shown right.   Cllr Janice Dudley said she violently opposed the scheme which was upheld by the Labour Party.   It remains to be seen if these two councillors will be on site to observe the road hold ups and parking problems that are likely to occur at the start and day of the school day.

The two councillors should certainly ensure that all available traffic wardens are on site for the relevant school times.   Perhaps there should also be an ambulance standing by in case of accidents to what is likely to be the worst black spot in the whole area covered by NPT CBC.

Residents using this section of road at peak time are advised to leave home earlier to allow for the likely traffic problems.
