Neath in the shadow of Port Talbot

Is Neath a back water town?

News you should know from around the Borough

When we checked the engagements of the new Mayor of Neath Port Talbot we found that Port Talbot is getting all his attention, at least most of it.   It is not the Mayor's fault, his engagments are arranged for him by the Mayoral office.   Apparantly this is nothing new - it has gone on since the merger of the two towns as an unitary authority in 1996.

All NPT council meetings are held in Port Talbot civic centre - again Neath takes second place.

Any society, group or interested body who would like an official visit from the Mayor should contact the Mayor's office.   We know for a fact the the new Mayor would be delighted to attend events in Neath.    Let's put Neath on the map - let's make the most of the Mayor like the way they do in Port Talbot.

The Mayor's office telephone number is: 01639 763296

Our readers will be pleased to know that NPT council has started cost saving measures - they have now stopped serving a glass of wine to councillors before the start of a council meeting - in Port Talbot, of course!

The other bit of interesting news is that Cllr Rob James (Bryncoch South) is going on a diet of only water for seven days.  He said it will be a fasting experience for him to know what others have to endure.   Rob explains  LATE EXTRA .... It has been noted that Rob James has removed his explanation from his blog.   We cannot possibly comment on this.
