Flaming Row
Flaming row over Olympic Flame
Although the road markings at Roman Way were completed in time for the arrival of the Olympic Flame, thousands of people were disappointed because it did not pass Banana Island on the expected route. This was in spite on the notices that were posted there advertising the passing of the Olympic Torch on the afternoon of Saturday 26th May.
One resident said that children standing in the hot sunshine were most distressed and the afternoon was a big disappointment. It is not clear what happened but it appears the relay runner went through the Dwr-y-felin playing field instead of sticking to the main road as expected.
We have written to two councillors, who cover the patch, to find out what happened to disappoint so many residents.
